Canadian Bacon
Canadian Bacon is a 1995 comedy film that makes fun of the relationship between Canada and United States. John Candy stars as an American Sheriff Bud Boomer who begins by making a remark about Canadian beer, which in turn starts a brawl. Alan Alda plays the U.S. President who decides to wage war. Kevin Pollak plays a National Security Advisor who adds to the talented cast which includes, Bill Nunn, Phea Perlman, Rip Torn, G.D. Spradlin and Kevin O’Connor. Through many blunders which threaten to turn a fabricated war into a real one. The budget for this film was $11,000,000, and the gross earnings were $178,104,000. Wonderfully directed by Michael Moore. This lighthearted jab at the American obsession with Canada’s military strength is refreshingly hilarious. This film features John Candy’s last complete screen performance.
