Deadly Companion
Directed by George Bloomfield and released in 1980 with a budget of $CAD3,400,000.Deadly Companion is a thriller set on location in Toronto, Canada. Starring Michael Sarrazin, Susan Clark and Anthony Perkins. This film also includes Eguene Levy, Dave Thomas, Joe Flaherty and John Candy as John, in supporting roles. It begins with a celebrated war correspondent (Michael Sarrazin) going into a mental institution. After his journalism assignment in the Middle East ended, he has came home to find his wife raped and brutally murdered. His girlfriend gets him released and helps him piece together the events of that fateful night because he can’t seem to remember anything about that happened. Anthony Perkins gives an excellent performance as the blackmailer who knows the real truth and also happens to be the ex-lover of his late wife. Loosely based on Ross MacDonald’s “The Three Roads”.
