Rookie of the Year
Rookie of the Year was a comedy baseball film released in 1993. Directed by Daniel Stern, it grossed nationally $56,500,758. It starred Gary Busey and Thomas Ian Nicholas, with John Candy as the announcer in an uncredited role. Other noted stars were Neil Flynn and Dan Hedaya. It begins with a 12-year-old boy, desperate to impress his baseball coach, but winds up breaking his arm by accident. It heals in an interesting way. Once he recovers, he has the ability to throw the ball 100 miles an hour and goes on to pitch for the Chicago Cubs in the World Series. This paves the way for him to be on his way to becoming a successful baseball player. This is a light hearted film that is a sure win.
