Splash was released in 1984 and was directed by Ron Howard. This film grossed $69,821,334 and had a budget of $8,000,000. Starring Tom Hanks (Allen Bauer), Daryl Hannah Madison), John Candy (Freddie Bauer), Eugene Levy (Walter Kornbluth) and Dody Goodman (Mr. Stimler). The story begins when Allen Bauer is rescued from drowning as a young boy off Cape Cod by a young mermaid. Years later, he returns to the same location and once again manages to fall into the sea. He is rescued once more by the same beautiful mermaid. Allen is not sure if what he sees is real or imagined. The mermaid decides to search for Allen in New York, sprouting legs when her tail dries. After finding Allen, they two fall in love and Allen feels as though he has met her somewhere before. She does have a secret but if she gets her legs wet, it won’t be a secret no more.
