The Blues Brothers
The Blues Brothers is a 1980 comedy film directed by John Landis. The film grossed $4,858,152 and had a budget of $27,000,000. It plays off of their Saturday Night Live characters. John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd star as Jake and Elwood Blues. Two white boys with black souls. The two enjoy wearing shades and twin suits and cruising in the Bluesmobile. They are dispatched on a “mission from God” by their former teacher, Sister Mary Stigmata (Kathlene Freeman) to raise $5,000 to save an orphanage. In the course of their wild adventures, the Blues Brothers run into the authorities lead by Burton Mercer (John Candy). They stake out the Palace Hotel and plan to apprehend them after the show. The band ends up playing to a sold out crowd, and everyone loves them. A Producer from a record company offers them $10,000 cash to sign. Their prayers are answered for the help they needed to save the orphanage. Although they end up in prison, all ends well as the brothers play concerts for their fellow inmates.
