The Clown Murders
This film released in 1976 with a budget of $CAD135,000. Directed by Martyn Burke. It’s stars Stephen Young (Charlie), Susan Keller (Alison) and John Candy (Olie). This was one of only two dramatic roles John Candy ever played. Filmed in Ontario and Toronto Canada the plot begins with a group of men who decide to dress as clowns and kidnap the wife of a peer during a costume party. Just as a practical joke and to delay the signing of an agreement that would tear down an old farm to make way for a new apartment building. With one of the men being an ex lover to the wife, and one of the men having murderous tendencies, each of them begin to turn on one another and their plan begins to fail. It then turn deadly serious leading to edge-of-your seat horror.
