Uncle Buck
Uncle Buck is a comedy film released in 1989 and directed by John Hughes. It had a budget of $15,000,000 and grossed $109,535,000. Starring John Candy as Buck Russell, Jean Louisa Kelly as Tia Russell, Macaulay Culkin as Miles Russell and Amy Madigan as Cindy. The story begins with Bob and his wife Cindy along with their three kids, 8-year-old Miles, 6-year old Maizy, and 15-year-old Tia, recently moved from Indianapolis to Chicago. Tia resents the move and lets her parents know every chance she gets. Bob and Cindy are in bed one night when Cindy’s aunt calls and tells them that Cindy’s father has had a heart attack. They immediately make plans to go to Indianapolis to visit Cindy’s father. After hearing this, Tia angrily tells her mother that she would have a heart attack too if her family moved away from her. With Cindy and Bob going to Indianapolis, the problem is who the babysitter will be. Even though Cindy doesn’t like the idea, they choose Bob’s brother Buck to babysit the kids. Cindy doesn’t like Buck because she thinks Buck is a very irresponsible, sloppy person who doesn’t know how to do anything. While Cindy and Bob are in Indianapolis, Buck takes over the house, and Buck tries to do the best he can with the kids. Buck is also having problems with his girlfriend of 8 years, Chanice Kobolowski. Buck eventually bonds with Miles and Maizy and wins their love. Buck, however has problems with Tia and finds that it is very difficult to get her to trust him. Of course, in his usual way, Uncle Buck wins over everyone in the end.
